I am Harry G. Harbin. By trade I am a computer professional based in the Seattle area. I have been interested in photography since I was very young. My father taught me the basics of photography using a 35mm range finder camera. In the mid 1960’s, when I was about 13, I bought my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic 100. 

I studied photography during the 1970’s at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California and Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. I worked as a freelance photographer until my first daughter was born in 1984. At that time I made an economic decision to put my camera down and became a computer programmer. 

Recently, after a 26 year hiatus, I picked up a camera again, when my wife and I took a trip to Paris for our 30th wedding anniversary. On this trip, I not only fell deeply in love with my wife all over again, I fell in love with photography again as well. We spent a day at the Musée de l’Orangerie experiencing  Monet’s Nymphéas series and then spent the next day at Monet’s Garden in Giverny. The day we spent in the gardens was the most inspirational day, both spiritually and artistically, I had experienced in years. I never want to put down my camera again! 

For me a successful photograph is not only visual but emotional, it captures a feeling, a personal vision. I hope you enjoy my vision and seeing as I see.
